Ruth Wallbank-Hughes

Ruth is from Stoke-on-Trent. She is a disillusioned psychotherapist who studied the ways reading builds our empathy and shapes our politics. She is a proud optimistic bookseller. She is the owner of Drop City Books, a loud, colourful city-centre bookshop working to make radical literature and all it offers completely irresistible. She believes that independent book shops are the inspiring, compassionate club houses that the left needs. She also makes creepy art work out of kebab shop menus, things she finds in people’s bins and flood damaged books.
